2003 Tournament Results
Bone August 2, 2003
Bone Lake, near Luck, WI was our final stop for the WI. Division this year
and I think we saved the best for last. The father/son team of Mark and Lane
Henck topped all 22 boats and a host of other big weights with a 20.19 lb.
Bag of 5 largemouth to win the tournament. The Hencks also won big bass with
a 5.08lb. whopper. What an awesome day fishing! The Hencks were jigging weed
lines and humps in 8-12 feet with worms and tubes in a variety of colors.
They caught 25 keepers and their fish bit all day long. Finishing 2nd were
Chad and Scott Sigsworth with 18.46lbs. They also fished in 8-12 feet with
jigs and Senkos. In 3rd place were Wayne Camper and Ole Hallanger with 17.79lbs.
They fished tubes under boat docks and caught them in the morning. They came
in with a 4.88 largemouth, which took 2nd for big bass. Also fishing docks
was Jeff Allen, who finished 4th with 15.71lbs. He caught his bass on jigs
and plastics. We witnessed him catch a 4.65 bass while in action. Congratulations
to The Team of the Year Points Champion Barry Rettke and Wes Haney who finished
9th and held off the Hansens by 4 points. They earned an extra $510, Bass
Pro Shops jackets, plaques, and a free entry to the National Championship
in November to fish for a new Triton Boat. Triton owners bonus $ of $100 went
to Kevin Johnson and Art Hendersin. Great job everyone! The weights were amazing
and we hope to come back next year.
Our Friday night meeting/banquet was held on the lake at Bone Point. Russell
Simon was our speaker. Simon is an author and travels around speaking to groups
about his ten years in prison and how God turned his life around. He spoke
to us about his hard times and how through other Christians (fishers of men)
he has stayed sober for over 5 years. He challenged us all and is an incredible
witness for Jesus Christ. We thank him for taking the time to speak at our
meeting. He is available to speak to other groups. Give him a call at 651
407-8355.
The Regional Championship is October 3-4 on Sandusky Bay in Ohio and everyone
who fished at least 3 tournaments is eligible to fish. Please check the final
standings to see if you are in the top 20. If you are not, there is still
a good chance you would be able to fish. Please let me know and send me your
$135 entry by Aug. 21. It has been a fun season and I enjoyed getting to know
you all. Please send me your suggestions and spread the word for next year
so we can continue to grow.
Thank you and God Bless!
Good fishin’
