2003 Tournament Results

Balsam Lake Miss.River 4/5 Wissota Wapogasset Bone

Wapogasset July 26th, 2003

Our 4th tournament of the year was on Lake Wapogassett in Amery, WI on July 26. We had clouds and wind as we eased off from Lake Wapogassett Bible Camp beach. The weather cleared and turned hot, calm, and sunny. The team of Wes Haney and Barry Rettke topped the 21 boat field with 11.31 lbs. for 5 bass. The victory moved them up to first place in the overall point’s race by one point with one tourney to go. They fished jig and craws and crankbaits near cabbage and coontail. They caught 10 keepers and had a 3.03lb. bass for 2nd big bass. Haney would like to thank Warners Dock for sponsoring him. 2nd place went to Rob Keller and Tim Andrea with 9.93lbs. Fishing the cabbage and coontail was also key to their success. Keller would like to thank Warmers Dock and Quality Underground for sponsoring him. In 3rd was the team of Wayne Camper and Ole Hallanger who caught 9.72lbs of bass including the 3.18 big bass of the day. They fished a variety of cover including weeds, docks and trees. In 4th was the father/son team of Michael and Steven Hansen with 9.29lbs. They worked the main lake weed edges with Carolina rigs.

Rod Lossow joined us at the meeting/banquet as our special guest speaker. Lossow is a former Los Angeles Rams football player and is now a high school teacher and head football coach in Minneapolis. He shared about his pro football days and despite “having it all” feeling unhappy and unfulfilled without God in his life. He also talked about God’s faithfulness to him through some 16 surgeries. He emphasized doing the right thing for God. We were blessed and honored to hear from him that night as we all enjoyed hot beef sandwiches at the Bible Camp, It was a fun evening of food, fellowship, and fun.

Mark Schutz, the MN director gave us some important info. about the Regional Championship in Sandusky Bay. The smallmouth fishing there is on fire and unbelievable. Do what you can to make it over there on Oct. 3-4.
