Having a God day - Wow! I don't know any other way to express this event. The 28 teams were hosted to a fabulous dinner of slow cooked brats, side salads, and delicious cookies by the fine folks of Faith Lutheran Church in Balsam Lake, WI, at the Friday night meeting. With the speaker running late, the floor was opened to Q & A session. The biggest topic discussed was how to do the weigh in better. The results of this conversation were displayed at the Saturday weigh-in. (Great job gang! It didn't go unnoticed.)

With a last minute telephone call, Toni Vaughdorn came as a stand-in speaker and delivered a heart felt story of how Christ has changed her life from being a divorced single Mom to a happily married wife to her former ex-husband and working to help other women at the same abuse shelter she attended during her hardest challenges. Although Toni's time was shortened due to the chaos of the meeting, her message of "Having God days" was felt by all in attendance with 7 recommitments, 1 first time request for Christ to enter their lives, a hearty appluase, and several hugs afterwards.

Talking about "Having a God Day", it was the team of Rob Keller and Steve Bahls who had a tremendous God day. Despite the high winds and tough bite, they brought in the awesome winning 5 fish bag of 22.61 lbs secured by the big fish of the tournament at 7.01 lbs. With first place in bonus bucks, their catch netted them $1,409.50 and moved them up to the leader spot in the division. Great job guys!(Can they hold on with one more tournament to go?) Second place for the tournament was the brother team of Jason & Nate Prokop with a 5 fish bag weight of 11.55 lbs. Their bag earned them $722.10 for the day with 2nd place in the bonus bucks. Third place went to the team of George Sigsworth and Greg Tilton with a 5 fish weight of 11.10 which was good enough for $403.20 on the day. Fourth place went to the team of Dan Winslow and Jeff Winslow (fishing for Steve Kordosky) with a 5 fish bag weight of 9.78 which with third place in bonus bucks netted them $397.40 for the day. Fifth place, the last money spot, went to the team of Bob Soderberg and Mike Schuett with 5 fish weighing 9.66 lbs which earned them $226.80 on the day. Second big fish of the tournament at 4.46 lbs went to the team of Robbie Newhouse and Mike Anselmo. It was good for $112 on the day.

Come join us for the final division tournament on the season and regional qualifier in which the top five teams automatically advance to the regionals(refer to rule 19)on 8/11/2007 on Lake Wappogasset. It will be a shoot out until the end I am sure. With several good teams switching ranks with each tournament, it is still anyone's game. As I said previously, it only takes one tournament to turn things around. The tournament will be ran out of the North Landing on the Lake. The Friday night meeting will be hosted by the New Life Church located in Amery, WI.

A big thanks to the friends and families of Faith Lutheran Church of Balsam Lake for sponsoring the dinner and allowing us to use the parking lot during the tournament.
